Information we collect
- Information you send us. If you contact us by email, we receive the contents of your message and your email address.
- Automatically collected technical data. Like most websites, hosting and analytics tools (if enabled) may process data such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring URLs, and approximate location derived from IP. We only use analytics or similar tools if we configure them; update this section when you add services such as Google Analytics.
- On-device reactions (likes / saves). On article pages, optional “Like” and “Save” controls store only anonymous preference flags in your browser’s local storage on your device. This information is not sent to our servers and is not used for advertising profiles on our side.
Comments (third-party)
If we enable discussion via Giscus, comments are loaded from giscus.app and backed by GitHub Discussions. Your comment and GitHub account data are processed under GitHub’s Privacy Statement and Giscus’s documentation. We do not operate the comment database ourselves.
Cookies and similar technologies
We and our partners may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies to:
- Remember preferences (for example, light/dark theme where supported).
- Store on-device preferences for article reactions (likes/saves), as described above.
- Measure traffic and performance.
- Deliver and measure advertising if we participate in programs such as Google AdSense.
When personalized advertising is shown, Google and its partners may use cookies or mobile advertising IDs to serve ads based on past visits to this or other websites. See how Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps: Google’s Privacy & Terms.
You can manage ad personalization through Google’s Ads Settings and industry tools such as aboutads.info where available.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
If we display ads through Google AdSense, Google will process data as described in:
We do not sell your personal information. AdSense may use automated means to select and measure ads.
Legal bases (EEA/UK visitors)
Where required by law, we rely on legitimate interests (operating and securing the site, measuring aggregate performance) and, where applicable, your consent for non-essential cookies or personalized ads. You may withdraw consent where the law provides a right to do so.
Data retention
We retain emails you send for as long as needed to respond and comply with legal obligations. Server logs retained by hosting providers are governed by their policies.
Children’s privacy
The site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us using the details on the Contact page.
International transfers
If you access the site from outside the country where our servers or processors are located, your information may be transferred across borders subject to appropriate safeguards where required.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance unless applicable law requires additional steps.
